Our Organization

Citizens for a Better Broome was formed in mid-2008 by a small group who share the fundamental belief that taxes in Broome County and New York State are crippling us and driving many people and businesses out of the state. We think this is a belief that is shared by every single resident of this County. 

Our original group of 'Founders' was made up of a few small business owners, a person from the medical profession, an attorney, a few retirees and of course a few individuals that find themselves working more and more hours just to pay the tax man. Since our formation, our group doubled, then tripled, and now continues to grow exponentially each month. We now have men, women, young and "mature" in our group representing the working class, business owners and professionals. The only qualification for joining our group is a shared concern that Taxes need to be cut.

Through our early "brain storming" sessions on how to attack this Tax problem, we came to the realization that we should focus our efforts right here in Broome County. We felt that going after the Albany elected officials and the Albany Special Interest Groups was beyond us.(at least for now) Ultimately, that's where we'll need to be. But first we need a really strong, loud voice here in Broome County. Our Goal is Lower Taxes. Our strategies for achieving this are consolidation of Government and School District Administration.  We welcome all ideas that will help us achieve our goal. Please join us and give us your ideas and feedback.

Is there anyone in Broome County who is happy about the Taxes they pay? (City, Town, Village, County, State, School...... etc)  If your are ok with the Taxes you pay, Citizens for a Better Broome is probably not for you. If you are not ok with this, we hope you will get involved!
